About Us

Freya Movement Studio is an NYC based prenatal and postpartum fitness studio offering virtual and in-person classes.

Co-founded by Jenny Hoofnagle and Amanda Schoppe, Freya Movement believes that expecting and new parents deserve to feel safe, seen and supported.

At Freya Movement Studio you'll learn how to move your body safely and efficiently through a high intensity, low or no impact workout that focuses on training you for the performance event of labor and delivery. We know that many fitness classes can leave you feeling uncertain about what you can and can’t do while pregnant. Or maybe you struggle to feel satisfied because it’s just not challenging enough - and you want to sweat! Our classes are beat-driven, challenging and fun! You’ll never need to modify, as we always offer multiple levels for each exercise so you can choose the one that feels best in your body. Our workouts are built to empower you so you feel strong, confident and free on and off the mat. You may even end your pregnancy stronger than when you started.

Sasha Lazare
Birth and Postpartum Doula

Compassion. Empowerment. Personalized Care.

This is what guides Sasha's practice as a certified birth and postpartum doula. Originally a performer, she began her journey as a birthworker after giving birth to her own two children with the life-altering guidance of her own birth doula. Having been through it herself, she felt called to remain a permanent part of the sacred birthing space and to provide that same kind of support to other birthing people and received her birth doula certification from DONA International. After experiencing her own postpartum struggles, she also vowed to do her part to create a more compassionate and supportive world for   postpartum people and received her postpartum doula certification from Doula Trainings International. Having attended all different kinds of births, she is steadfast in her belief that all birthing and postpartum people deserve non-judgmental, unwavering support, and treats each unique experience with compassion, respect, and humor.

Our Story

Freya Movement power symbol
Jenny Hoofnagle and Amanda Schoppe

Freya Movement Studio began when Jenny Hoofnagle, Studio Owner, and Amanda Schoppe, co-founder of the brand who now resides in MN, met in 2019 while teaching pre- and postnatal fitness in NYC. They quickly bonded over a shared passion: helping pregnant and postpartum people feel strong, supported, and empowered throughout every stage of their journey.

In 2021, over dinner in Union Square, they realized they were both getting the same question from clients — Where should I go for classes? With no trusted answer, they decided to create one. In 2022, they launched Moms on the Move, an online platform designed to be a home for this community.

As their virtual offerings grew and in-person classes began, so did their vision. What started online soon became a few hours a week in a downtown studio rented by the hour… and in the winter of 2025, Freya Movement Studio found its very own home in Chelsea, NYC.

In March 2023, Moms on the Move officially evolved into Freya Movement Studio — a name inspired by the Nordic goddess Freya: powerful, bold, sensual, maternal, and magical. Exactly how we see you.

At Freya Movement Studio, our mission is simple:
→ Empower pregnant and postpartum people
→ Provide effective, science-backed workouts
→ Build an authentic, supportive community
→ Connect you with trusted experts

We’re so glad you’re here. We can’t wait to move with you and celebrate all the incredible things you and your body can do.
